Human Resources Business Partner

The Talent Company is pleased to be partnering with an industry leader for media research and insights. They are looking for a Human Resources Business Partner for their office in Downtown Toronto. This person will work closely with the Sr. Director of Human Resources to facilitate employee relations matters, assist with compensation analysis and compliance.

Responsibilities: 
  • Advises, coaches and assists directors, managers and individual contributors on the interpretation and administration of HR policies and best practices
  • Advises, coaches and supports employees with employee relations (i.e.: new hire on-boarding, issues with peers or managers, policies, benefits and pension, leaves such as maternity or sick leave, works in conjunction with management team and legal counsel pertaining to employment matters).
  • Ensures compliance with current employment legislations and regulations, including yearly audits and year-end processing, assist with pension administration for defined benefit and defined contribution plans with the payroll manager
  • Participates with the overall Performance Management administration.
  • Supports Payroll Manager as backup for semi-monthly payrolls, as well as providing internal quality check for semi-monthly payroll runs and supports administration of annual compensation review/salary planning
  • Prepares job descriptions, conducts job evaluations and classifications, maintains corporate job evaluation structure that is aligned with internal organizational structures, and assist with recruitment activities in the non-Quebec client groups
  • Participates in compensation surveys and conduct market data research in collaboration with various comp survey tools, analyze data and create reports for compensation work and on market trends.
  • Recommends compensation strategies based on understanding of external market and the company’s preferred pay practices and philosophies, maintains Pay Equity plan to ensure organization is compliant with pay equity legislation for understanding Ontario and Quebec
 
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • CHRP or CHRL preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a generalist in a corporate human resources setting with some experience with compensation
  • Some knowledge of benefits, pension administration, best practices and legislation requirements in multiple jurisdictions
  • Understanding of full cycle payroll for approximately 450 employees, including unionized and non-unionized employees
  • Advanced ability to generate reports and create forms using Excel, excellent research, analytical and reporting skills
  • Working knowledge of MS Office, HRIS, time management, payroll and performance management systems
  • Knowledge of Pay Equity legislation.
  • Proven ability to work with a high degree of accuracy and close attention to detail, self-motivation, ability to work independently, project management skills and ability to multi-task.
