Greenhouse Optimization Leader

Our client, a global high growth organization and one of this country’s most exciting success stories has partnered with The Talent Company to help recruit for a Greenhouse Optimization Manager. This opportunity is based in their Delta, British Columbia facility.
 
A crown jewel, amongst our client’s national operations, this facility in particular is becoming state of the art and the largest of its kind – in the world.
 
Reporting to the General Manager, the Greenhouse Optimization Manager will be a part of optimizing greenhouse capabilities. The scope of duties includes managing the facilities, irrigation, and integrated pest management teams.

Responsibilities: 
  • Develop and deliver the strategy to manage the greenhouses and ensuring the Grow Manager has the optimum conditions available to deliver high quality harvests on a perpetual basis
  • Coach, lead and performance manage a team of Facilities, Irrigation and Integrated Pest Management (IPM) teams
  • Ensure a preventive maintenance schedule is in place covering, but not limited to glazing HVAC, irrigation and lighting systems
  • First line of response to issues related to machines and building
  • Ensure compliance with building safety code, fire plan, and fire extinguishers inspection plan
  • Propose and implement solutions to reduce operational expenditures
  • Plan, execute and communicate plans for continuous improvement
  • Ensure the Irrigation team has the processes in place to deliver the requirements of the grow team
  • Ensure the IPM team is proactive in scouting, communicating and delivering the pest management solutions to the grow team to ensure pest / disease is under control year-round.
  • Manage all departments within the budget
 
Requirements:
  • 7 to 10 years of experience within greenhouse environments.
  • 5+ years experience as a leader, in managing and developing teams
  • Previous knowledge of Greenhouse maintenance is considered a “must”
  • Experience with facilities, irrigation and pest management
  • Able to work in extreme temperatures, ie. Hot or cold
  • Available and willing to work off-hours as required
  • High level of accountability, self sufficient and follow through while ensuring projects are completed as promised
  • Ability to exercise tact, diplomacy and discretion
  • Strong computer skills
  • Ability to organize/ prioritize workload
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
