Payroll and Benefits Specialist

Our client, an owner and operator of residential communities in North America is currently hiring a Payroll and Benefits Specialist for their office in Richmond Hill. This person will be responsible for working within the payroll and accounting team to help grow the function as the company continues to grow. The incumbent will be responsible for North American payroll, benefits, projects, and reporting. This position will report into the Payroll Manager.
 
Responsibilities: 
 
The Payroll and Benefits Specialist will be responsible for two main areas:
 
US Payroll and Benefits Operations
  • Work seamlessly within the team to perform full cycle payroll and benefits, on a semi-monthly ADP payroll, for hourly and salaried US employees as well as related reconciliations 

  • Draft and prepare sensitive documents such as severance and stay bonus agreements 

  • Support compensation scorecards, bonus review, and leasing commission processes 

  • Support our US employees with benefits open enrollment and 401K processes 

  • Partner with third party benefits providers and regulators to deliver filing and reporting requirements 

 
Reporting, Projects, and Analysis
  • Develop and provide compensation and benefits reporting for management and executives 

  • Build out new areas of analysis collaborating with various teams including accounting and operations 

  • Key contributor to existing and future projects including HRIS and ADP Document Cloud 

  • Critically assess current processes and leverage technology to propose and drive new projects to 
enhance existing processes and deliver new business insights 

 
Requirements:
  • PCP designation preferred coupled with 2-3 years of progressive payroll experience 

  • Undergraduate or college degree in a related field 

  • Keen interest in continuous learning as it relates to the payroll & benefits profession 

  • Passionate and curious about experimenting with technology and driving process automation 

  • Some prior experience in HRIS, workforce, or benchmarking analysis and reporting is preferred 

  • Intermediate skills in Microsoft Excel preferred 

  • Experience in ADP Workforce Now considered a strong asset 

  • Strong communicator and excellent time management skills 

  • Well-developed attention to detail and analytical skills 

  • Aptitude and curiosity to leverage technology to gain efficiencies and improve processes 

  • Team first mentality and strong ability to get work completed
