Manager, Risk Analytics and Market Intelligence

The Talent Company is pleased to be partnering with a global organization with a significant presence in Canada. Their Canadian Head Office is in Markham.  This organization is heavily focused on risk analytics and is searching for a strong leader to make thought-out and researched recommendations to impact high-level strategic decisions.
 
They are currently seeking a Manager of Risk Analytics and Market Intelligence, who will be part of the Product Operations Team. In Product Operations, we use data to support the pricing and acceptance of profitable risks while striving to be as efficient in our processes as possible. This role will report to the Director of Risk Analytics and will manage a team of analysts.
 
Responsibilities:
• Support our market teams through profitability and competitive analysis to actively pursue opportunities within the product to enable profitable growth or mitigate threats to the market
• Work closely with key departments to identify opportunity areas or gaps in rating and a mix of business trends
•  Manage a team of analysts, providing coaching and development
• Review mix of business and competitive intelligence analysis and share information across the company to enable action and influence decision-making
• Lead a team that reviews and analyzes current rules to ensure efficient processes, and acceptance of profitable risks, ensuring consistency throughout the regions
• Cultivate a network of internal and external contacts as sources of competitor information
• Use creativity to develop new ways to improve profitability and growth within the constraints of the regulatory environment and system limitations
• Work with various individuals within the organization to influence positive changes to our processes and incorporate stakeholder feedback
• Create, enhance, and implement long-term tools to support and empower key functions
• Coordinate a team of analysts to ensure proper support is given, and ability is matched with requirements of various projects
• Provide input on and ownership of components of larger initiatives that are national in nature

Requirements:
• Post-secondary education in a related field
• 5+ years of insurance or relevant experience
• Proven ability to enhance performance and engagement of a team of direct reports through coaching and development
• Actively pursuing or completed Actuarial exams/designation a strong asset, although not a requirement if proven analytical ability
• Extensive industry knowledge with a network of industry contacts is an asset
• Ability to collaborate effectively with peers to meet objectives as one cohesive team.
• Exceptional consultative and communication skills to influence change while working with various stakeholders across the organization
• Proven ability to lead projects
• Resourceful, self-starter, proactive and results oriented
• Complex analytical and decision-making abilities
• Highly developed verbal and written communication skills with a demonstrated ability to present information in an organized, logical and effective manner to a wide variety of audiences, including senior leadership.
• Effectively able to take initiative and multi-task competing priorities while remaining organized
• Ability to research and analyze data from a variety of sources
