Associate Communications Manager

The Talent Company is pleased to be working with a Toronto based medicinal cannabis company in hiring an Associate Communications Manager. At its core, this involves executing and implementing communications tactics and PR plans to assure that our rapidly growing organization earns the media reputation, industry buzz and consumer awareness that we so richly deserve. You will collaborate with the CMO and marketing director in evaluating and developing communications strategies, plan and execute programs. You must possess capabilities to build awareness and earned media for our medical brand across all available channels in a highly regulated category.

Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the planning and execution of public relations programs
  • Proactively identify emerging stories, trends and “white-space” opportunities
  • Reinforce strategic mandate of the company
  • Plan and execute press conferences or industry events
  •  Develop and pitch new content ideas to create media opportunities for the brand
  • Maintain media contacts for targeted launches and outreach programs
  • Assist in developing key communications materials including their design
  • Provide support to the marketing department on all strategies and programs
  • Assist both marketing and sales in all public relations and marketing efforts
  • Conduct research for target markets by conforming to territory requirements
  • Interact with customers to facilitate marketing and sales initiatives
  • Coordinate the flow of information between departments
  • Create and deliver public relations materials such as press releases, white papers, executive bios, corporate newsletter content, and proposals
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, communications, or related field.
  • 1-2 years of related experience (CPG, etc.) but new grads also considered
  • Must be a confident communicator and presenter
  • Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Must possess excellent organizational and planning skills
  • Be proactive, reliable, responsible and accurate with an attention to detail
  • Possess the ability to keep information confidential
  • Tactical understanding of all primary social media platforms
  • Experience with emerging digital marketing formats and content marketing.
  • Competency in Office 365 applications on MacOS, and Photoshop.
