Information Technology Leader

Our client, a global leader in food production has retained The Talent Company to help with recruiting for an IT Manager for their Canadian operations. Reporting to the Vice President, Information Technology, the IT Manager is responsible for developing, improving and maintaining the company’s overall IT systems for Canada, while complimenting and ensuring commonality with the worldwide IT strategy.
 
As this role works closely with Canadian leadership, the chosen candidate will need to ensure systems and technology are aligned with that of the business goals.
 

Responsibilities

  • Manage a local team of five IT professionals that support the Canadian business unit.
  • Provide coaching and mentoring to Canadian IT team. Support group cohesion between the local team and global IT peers and leadership.
  • Oversee all projects within the IT operations domain including the implementation of an ERP system.
  • Manage IT expenses and capital funds to control costs and to ensure IT technologies are maintained at industry standards.
  • Monitor and report to IT and business unit management on the status of multiple concurrent project efforts.  Anticipate and identify issues inhibiting the attainment of project goals; develop and implement corrective actions.
  • Take a strategic approach to recognizing, evaluating, and taking advantage of new technologies that provide business advantage and/or meet corporate needs.
  • Provide direction to project managers and integrate activities with other global IT departments to ensure successful implementation.
  • Promote a cooperative and supportive service attitude across the IT department to ensure enhanced working relationships with all user departments/organizations.
  • Proactively recommend courses of action to maintain cost effectiveness and competitiveness.
  • Develop and negotiate third party agreements and ensure service levels are maintained.
  • Responsible to establish good governance (policies, process, controls, reporting etc) are in place for the department.
  • Serve as member of technical infrastructure and operations support teams for the utilization of various business system platforms.
 

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline, or equivalent work experience.
  • 10 years of progressive experience within a manufacturing environment, including implementation and installation of successful application and infrastructure systems.
  • 5+ years of experience managing a team of IT professionals in various disciplines (infrastructure, help desk, user support, application development).
  • Experience successfully operating within a matrixed environment.
  • Strong experience within project management. A track record of successfully managing an ERP installation is considered an asset.
  • Experience developing and managing a departmental budget (capital, resource etc).
  • Knowledge and experience with Service Desk software (ServiceNow), Skype for Business and Microsoft technologies such as SQL Server, Office, Outlook, Active Directory, SharePoint, Licensing and Windows operating systems
  • Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills are required in the performance of the position responsibilities
