Human Resources and Recruitment Specialist

The Talent Company is pleased to be working with a Toronto based mining company in hiring a Human Resources and Recruitment Specialist. As an HR and Recruitment Specialist, this hands-on role will support a wide variety of Human Resources activities, including full-cycle recruitment, HR policy and compliance, metrics, and reporting, and HR general administration. This role will report to the Vice President of Human Resources.

Responsibilities:
 
Recruitment
  • Conduct full-cycle recruitment for open positions; 
  • Fully utilize, update and maintain the applicant tracking system (iCIMS);
  • Build positive relationships with hiring managers. Provide guidance and timely updates to hiring managers on the search process; and
  • Provide training and support to global recruiters.
 
Policy and Compliance
  • Maintain current knowledge of provincial and federal laws regarding human resources activities, and ensure Company compliance;
  • Maintain and develop Company policies and procedures, including health and safety and AODA;
  • Recommend best practices and improvements to current programs and processes; and
  • Facilitate and conduct presentations or workshops, as required.
 
General HR Administration
  • Conduct employee onboarding and offboarding;
  • Assist with the rollout and execution of Corporate HR initiatives;
  • Develop global, quarterly reports that accurately capture HR data and support key HR decisions. Analyze trends and make recommendations to address underlying issues;
  • Administer benefits plans and programs including health and dental, EAP and any other programs (process enrolments, terminations, and employee changes);
  • Assist management with employment relations activities;
  • Maintain department records (i.e. employee files, organization charts, invoices) and coordinate effective operations of the department;
  • Produce documents, letters and other general correspondence; and
  • Other HR projects, duties and responsibilities as required.
 
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in business with a focus on Human Resources Management or diploma in Human Resources or equivalent
  • 3+ years of experience in the Human Resources field, with an emphasis on recruitment for technical roles (engineers, geologists, scientists, etc.)
  • CHRP designation or in progress
  • Experience using an Applicant Tracking System and LinkedIn Recruiter and proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, etc.)
  • Thorough knowledge of employment law and all related legislation (provincial and federal)
  • Ability to prioritize effectively and strong sense of urgency
  • Ability to multitask and accomplish tasks, projects, and goals efficiently
  • Strong verbal, written, and listening communication skills
  • Demonstrated resourcefulness, problem-solving and analytical skills, and attention to detail
  • Demonstrated critical thinking and decision making skills
  • High integrity with the ability to deal with confidential, sensitive information with a high degree of professionalism
