Bilingual Communications Specialist

The Talent Company has been retained by a leader within the food services and production space to help identify a Bilingual Communications Specialist.
 
Reporting to the Communications Manager, this individual will provide strategic communications to various internal stakeholders while working with the Communications Manager on projects that include: public relations, internal communications and online mediums. This includes supporting the Communications Manager on the writing and design development of corporate materials ranging from: annual reports, articles for the quarterly members’ newsletter, website, social media, business development sales sheets, advertisements and communications in industry publications, corporate announcements and presentations. 
 
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Support the Communications Manager in the development and implementation of strategic communications plans that advance the organization’s strategic plan.
  • Prepare english and french copywriting for public announcements, annual meetings, website and newsletters.
  • Work with the Communications Manager and Marketing department on the development and implementation of a promotion strategy for the organization’s corporate and product brands.
  • Work with Marketing on maintenance and content development for the organization’s online and social media platforms.
  • Work with the Humans Resources department on the development and implementation of an employee engagement strategy.
  • Provide advice and assist in the development, formatting and layout of communications materials and activities that are in line with brand image protocols for logos and materials.
  • Support member relations with the development of communications materials and related activities.
  • Monitor relevant media coverage and provide regular summaries to the leadership team.
  • Prepare sales sheets and supporting materials for the business development and sales departments.
  • Maintain current industry knowledge on policy developments and other domestic/international developments that may be relevant to the organization’s interests.
  • Prepare corporate materials including kits, brochures, videos, etc.
 
REQUIREMENTS:
  • At least 3 years’ of experience in communications and/or public relations.
  • Knowledgeable of the food industry is an asset.
  • University degree in communications, public relations, political science or equivalent degree.
  • Excellent English and french communication, writing and proofreading skills.
  • Demonstrated experience in design and layout of communications materials and best practices for corporate brand development and awareness.
  • Proven proficiency in Photoshop and InDesign; experience with other design programs is an asset.
  • Advanced computer skills including MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and other presentation programs.
  • Advanced social media and web page skills including Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, and related online platforms, etc.
  • Knowledge about federal and provincial lobbying rules and regulations is an asset.
  • Self-motivated with high energy and ability to multi-task.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills.
  • Positive team player who can work effectively with internal and external partners.
