The Talent Company is pleased to be partnering with a rapidly growing manufacturer and provider of health products that are in search of a Director of Operations & Facilities. This role will be reporting into the Chief Operating Officer. 

You will be responsible for the strategic direction, leadership ensuring measured performance improvements. They are looking to hire a effective leader with a strong focus on operations and manufacturing business processes, with the ability to map out an operational framework and repeatable processes with the intent of implementing them at different sites. 

  • Establish the overall vision and direction for all Operations & Facilities administration and performance.
  • Develop and implement new business strategies for creating or improving processes and procedures to improve corporate performance.
  • Monitor departmental performance against goals to ensure that progress is being made, and that corrective action is taken if necessary.
  • Responsible for appropriate staff levels to meet requirements of the facility.
  • Responsible for recruitment, hiring, terminations and performance management.
  • Promote positive morale by setting and demonstrating a strong business ethic for dealing with employees, suppliers and customers.
  • Enhance and develop policies, procedures and service systems to meet the goals of the facility.
  • Review and approve plans for the control of planned output, budget spending, material efficiency, engineering effectiveness, and human resources.
  • Budget preparation and monitoring of on budget performance to ensure the facility is meeting or exceeding budgetary commitment.
  • Analyze and report on the operation's daily, monthly and annual key performance indicators (KPIs) and report against industry trends.
  • Develop and implement strategies around improving the financial performance of the department.
  • Facility inventory and production oversight.
  • Ensuring quality system is operational and maintained.
  • Post-Secondary diploma or degree in a business, engineering or technical field.
  • 7 or more years previous management experience in manufacturing/production environment with proven leadership abilities. Experienced working in a GMP environment and with a labour union an asset.
  • Effective negotiating skills that be applied as required around supply/service agreements and collective bargaining agreements
  • A clear and solid understanding of personnel policies, practices, procedures and other operational issues faced by a production operation and capable of resolving issues as they arise.
  • A well-defined sense of diplomacy, including solid negotiation, conflict resolution, and people management skills.
  • Experience in ISO/TS certified, Lean Six Sigma, SPC, Root Cause Analysis, Continuous Improvement, Continuous Flow Manufacturing environments and practical application of TOC
  • Experience with ERP and strong working knowledge around Supply Chain & Logistics management 
  • Effective attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy.
  • High level of integrity, confidentially, and accountability.
  • Sound analytical thinking, planning, prioritization, and execution skills.
  • Effective leadership skills, with a strong focus on operations and business processes.
  • Able to identify key issues; creatively and strategically overcome internal challenges or obstacles.
